Surface Design

I’ve kept an online, and later a nomadic in-person, shop for years now. Much of my illustration and design has been for my own products.

These have included a silk scarf collection, candles, mugs, fabric, apparel, etc.

Silk Scarves

I designed and released a silk scarf and pocket square collection in 2021 under my own brand and sold them in my online shop, and at pop up events. They were printed on silk and hemmed by hand.

Boats and Pride Floats

I’m confident working mural size; freehand with a paint marker; and have had the opportunity to work on large surfaces, including: illustrating my own narrowboat, the window of The Flipside, Skipton, and designing a pride float for The Rainbow Chorus.

The pride float had a very tight budget for such a huge area needing banners, so I innovated with a roll of leatherette fabric and leftover household paint donated by choir members, and I cut out the stencils for the large lettering using the same leatherette fabric! The choir still reuse the banners as backdrops for their performances sometimes because it has their logo painted on it.

Pattern tiles

I’m a big fan of pattern so I enjoy making pattern tiles for projects when needed. Pattern tiles have ended up on fabric, wrapping paper, packaging, book endpapers, etc. Some of these tiles were made simply to be sold as fabric for online shop Spoonflower.

Architecture illustration

These drawings were mostly self initiated and put onto products. One was also commissioned by Kensal Green Cemetery, London, to be put onto a mug and sold to raise money for the cemetery.
